Please be patient with us as it may take some time to find a perfect buddy for you. We are only a small group of volunteers and sadly, we do not have the capacity to give all of you a personalized buddy. This does not mean that we will not help you if you have any problems though. We will give you as much information as possible by email or WhatsApp groups and try to have someone at the dormitories to help you out. If you have any problems, just email us or write to us via WA or Instagram and we will help you to the best of our abilities!
It differs slightly each term, but usually, there is a Czech SIM (from Vodafone with 3gb of data and free SMS), vouchers from our Local Partners, promo material, and some other small things. We always send an email or WhatsApp message about the exact contents.
The ESN office is in building J (FIM). https://en.mapy.cz/s/34fd7
You can get there by walk or bus (From Palachova, take bus 23 or 24 to Heyrovského and from there you can see the main university buildings.). FIM is the middle building of the 3. Go in through its main entrance, pass reception and it is the first door on the left. The door has our logo on it.
We will post opening times on the WhatsApp groups, Instagram or share it via e-mail.
All of you will receive a personal login to the system. We buddies do not have this. Either contact your coordinator directly, wait until registration or go to centrum sluzeb (in building A, on the ground floor opposite the library https://en.mapy.cz/s/34sKx ), which can help you as well. Until you receive the login, you can connect to the internet by ethernet cable.
Accommodation costs about 3000 CZK per month + a 2000 CZK reservation fee. (This reservation fee you get back in the end if you leave the apartment like you found it- cleaned and in a liveable state.)
For food, an average Czech person pays maybe 3000-4000 CZK, but it is different for everyone.
No!
In the Czech Republic we use CZK, but you can use any of the exchange offices to change your foreign currency to Czech crowns. The closest one from dormitories is in Futurum: https://en.mapy.cz/s/34sjJ (The first shop on the left-hand side).
In some bigger shops you may pay with euro, but then there will be big visible signs saying so.
Your coordinator should send you all the required information. If you are still unsure, please reach out to them directly.
